We're two days away from Artsfest, a two-day art festival here in Southern Maryland, which means our house is currently full of brooms and boxes.
(To be fair, our house is usually full of brooms. And boxes. There are just considerably more of them than usual at this moment.)
We've been quiet online and in the market scene this year, and that's because things have not been quiet or slow for us behind the scenes. I was worried I couldn't keep up with multiple markets, online shop updates and orders, and the rest of life. So I said no to some things in order to put my best effort into others.
So, we'll be at Artsfest at Annmarie Sculpture Garden in Solomons, Maryland, this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19-20, with a booth full of everything we've been working so diligently on for the past few months: hand brooms and hearth brooms, little brooms, rather large brooms, witchy brooms, beeswax candles, and a few one-of-a-kind pieces.
I'm planning to tackle a big shop update soon after, so stay tuned!
This is our first year at Artsfest, and by far our biggest show yet. Getting ready has meant a lot of evenings measuring and tying broomcorn, experimenting with colors and styles, making lists, revising lists, ordering supplies, redesigning our booth, remaking displays, and periodically questioning what we've done.
But now they're made. Things are getting packed. And somehow, we appear to be very nearly ready.
If you're in Southern Maryland this weekend, come find us at Annmarie Garden in Solomons, booth #72. We'd love to see you!
And if you find your way here after meeting us at Artsfest: hello! We're glad you're here.
This is where we'll occasionally share what's happening at Sycamore Craftstead — new work, upcoming markets, things we're learning and making, and probably a few stories along the way.
Not constanly; just when we have something worth sharing.
Best,
Sarah & Keith
